Imbalance

My challenge was to present a typographical design
solution for the word Imbalance. Having in mind the
needs of a specific market-target.

Identifying related facts that show or represent the
word Imbalance and interpret them in a manner that
not only expresses what it means but also informs.

I thoroughly researched trough different kind of sources
(newspapers, reports, debates, narratives, archives).

This process of research did help me
in the creative and development process.

Negotiated Project

My idea was to research about Gospel music and
Contemporary Christian music.

I wanted to know where and when this type of music
started and its roots. How does this music influenced our daily
lives and its impact in our social behaviour with others.

To do that I researched about music groups that started
this type of music in America in different years: “Petra”
(www.petraband.com/) and the “Harlem Gospel Choir”

This was a very interesting theme to explore, as there was
much of history and “graphic images” behind: colour, vibrancy,
happiness, and lots of movement that brought a richness of
creative ideas and helped me produce interesting graphic design work.

Self Promotion

In this module I had to create a self-promotion
strategy to approach future employers/customers
and this passed by developing the following:

Part One - Personal identity
Self Promotion Pack.
• Business card (90mm x 55mm)
• Letterhead (297mm x 210mm)
• Type styling and colour palette.

Part Two - The Art of Saying Hello
Self-promotion (digital)
I produced a PDF file of work in order to promote
myself as a visual communicator with
the intention of forming a dialogue with potential employers.

This is very important as it will enable future employers
to ascertain my strengths as a graphic designer,
my design ethos, my ability to work professionally
and my ability to present information with clarity
and imagination. It's also like trying to “building a
bridge of trust” with a future employer or client(s).

Part Three Self-promotion (employment strategy plan)
1. Curriculum Vitae
I produced a 1-2 page typeset and designed CV
highlighting with my contact details, qualifications,
work experience and creative assets.

2. Case Study of Design Practitioner or Design Company
I developed a 6-10 page typeset and designed document
with examples of work; description of the company and the design
disciplines encompassed within the company.
